Crawling
Crawling
My crawling projects fall under the umbrella title Crossed Paths. So far for Crossed Paths – Animals I have crawled as a sheep and badger, For Crossed Paths – Trees I have crawled with an Oak tree, Birch tree, May (Hawthorn), Bardsey Apple, Scots Pine, (Malus) Rudolph, Olive tree and Beech Tree . The project is ongoing.
Crossed Paths is a project about going deeply into the living landscape, ecosystems and interspecies dynamics to explore animal, plant, land and human narratives. The project is inspired by two seminal books; Nan Shepherd’s The Living Mountain and David Abram’s An Earthly Cosmology: Becoming Animal.
The Crossed Paths project is dedicated to my late father and artist Dick Whall, whose walking project along the ancient walkways of England in the 1980’s inspired this project.
