Tim Beckham
Tim Beckham is an Interdisciplinary artist based in Aberystwyth, Wales. He has had a long involvement in music, performance, visual and conceptual art and education.
As a touring musician and technician he has travelled Europe and the Americas working with artists and bands including David Byrne, Siouxsie Sioux, American Music Club and Mark Eitzel, Jeffrey Lee Pierce and the Gun Club and Jean Jovenet of French band Extraballe. From hard-core techno to free improvisation to pop, rock & soul and electronica, he has been involved in diverse musical environments as composer, multi-instrumentalist and musical director.
Technology plays a big part in his processes, including digital imagery and digital audio. His “sound behind the silence” installation project collected the unheard sounds of Electro-Magnetic Fields (EMF) from everyday electrical equipment to draw attention to the radiation that permeates our lives.
Other recent works include “The Mesolithic Orchestra” workshops delivered as part of the Portalis Project at Ceredigion Museum, Sound design and composition for “Lost In The Backrooms” by film maker Leon Underwood and various musical projects with Ninth House, Hollow Water, Karypsia and OYF. He also took part in the collaboration with Miranda Whall for the “Dirty Ensemble: 23rd August” as part of her “When Earth Speaks” project.
